MARLENA  BEYROWSKA /Owner/

 -  Piano

-- Marlena has been teaching piano and music theory for over 35 years. Polish born and educated, Marlena graduated with a Masters degree in Music Education from the Music Academy in Gdansk in 1977, and then spent 10 years teaching at the Music School in Gdynia.
-- On moving to New Zealand, Marlena followed the Royal Schools of Music and the Trinity College of Music curricula. During her time there she also taught and conducted choirs, and for many years was the organist at the local church.
-- Now resident in Chicago and running her own studios, Marlena's favorite piano teaching method is to follow “Piano Adventures” by Nancy and Randall Faber. For her very young beginner students, “Pianimals” is preferred.
-- Marlena strives to ensure her lessons are taught in a relaxing and positive atmosphere, in order to be motivating, energetic and fun.
-- She enjoys and embraces many styles of music, and so often supplements her students with other genres, such as jazz or popular songs.
-- Music is, was, and always will be a big part of Marlena′s life.

CARTER  SCHULTZ

 -  Guitar/­Bass/­Piano/­Mandolin/­Banjo

-- Carter Schultz is a multi-instrumentalist and song-writer of 17 years.
-- He has been teaching guitar, drums, piano and bass in the Schaumburg area since 2010 and has an Associate's degree in Fine Arts from Harper College, where he primarily studied upright bass.
-- Carter can help beginning and intermediate players develop a simple yet deep understanding of music theory and it's application in popular music and song writing.
-- He is also well versed in music history, orchestral music and jazz.

KELSEY  STREMPLEWSKI

 -  Voice/Piano

-- For the past 10 years, Kelsey gained experience performing in various settings–from chamber choirs to vocal jazz groups.
-- She graduated from Judson University in December of 2013 with a BA in Music Composition and from Bowling Green State University in May of 2016 with a MM in Music Theory.
-- Similarly to her performing background, Kelsey enjoys incorporating many musical styles into her lessons and tailors lessons to best suit her students’ aspirations.
-- She also enjoys incorporating music theory and aural skills exercises for a well–balanced lesson experience.

DAVID  SHORE

 -  Piano/­Guitar/­Bass/­Upright Bass/­Ukulele

-- David’s students enjoy learning and feeling like musicians while still getting the academic benefits that learning music provides.
-- He includes many songs and pieces that his students are familiar with while making sure important skills and knowledge are being developed.
-- Lessons with David lessons are fun and energetic, but he is always in charge and real learning is always happening.
-- David has a Bachelor’s Degree in music and has been teaching music for many years.
-- He grew up in this area and attended Conant High School and his son is a graduate of Schaumburg High School.

RACHEL  SARAH  THOMAS

 - Voice

-- Rachel is a voice coach with classical voice training and a songwriting background. She studied in the classical voice program with Luretta Bybee at the University of Michigan and is now finishing her degree in Contemporary Voice and Composition at Roosevelt University. While she studied classically, she shifted her focus for the past 7 years to contemporary music and original composition.
-- In her recordings she has worked with Grammy Winners Tha Bizness and internationally renowned rapper Talib Kweli.
-- She has songs licensed by the program Adult Swim as well as the Wrigley Corporation. She has opened for the likes of Femi Kuti @ Millennium Park, Thievery Corporation @ Milwaukee Summerfest, and K. Flay @ the House of Blues.
-- She also works with starbeat studios in Deerfield, Il lending her voiceover and writing skills to various nationally and locally syndicated jingles including Celebrity Scoop for WGN radio, American Weather-makers, Tri-State Carpet and Floor and more.
-- She believes using the foundations of classical technique towards the stylized and emotional realm of pop & contemporary performance creates formidable singers. Her goal in teaching others is being the teacher she never had. She had teachers teaching perfection, but not singing with joy. Her goal is to help her students find that joy.
-- She wants her lessons to be fun, fulfilling and rewarding!
-- She is taking students of all ages, and is happy to accept vocalists who want to work on writing their own songs, or who want foundational knowledge on singing technique and performance in any style.

LAWRENCE  BOISEN

 -  Woodwind/­Harmonica/­Jazz

-- Larry has been a professional musician for several decades on saxes, clarinet, flute, oboe, harmonica and piano, during which time he performed with numerous famous big bands:Les and Larry Elgart; Ralph Marterie; Ralph Flanagan; Johnny Palmer, Dan Bellock; Norm Christian and numerous others. He has also played with numerous wedding bands.
-- He backed up famous acts: Joe E. Lewis; Henny Youngman; Leslie Uggams; The Ink Spots; Marilyn Michaels; a few people from the Lawrence Welk show -Bobby Burgess; Jack Imel: JoAnn Castle; The Harmonicats, Jerry Vale, Julius LaRosa and countless others. He performed in pit orchestras for various musicals, performed three times at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival with two different colleges and performed with countless famous Chicago musicians: Guy Fricano; Barrett Deems; Loren Binford; Tom Fitzsimmons; Bill Porter; Rusty Jones; Bobby Schiff, Warren Kime, Bunky Green, Art Hoyle, Art Davis, Rich Fudoli, Harold Siegel, Dick Kress, Johnny Frigo, Dick Judson, Truck Parham, Frank Portolese, Freddy Rundquist, Frank Winkler, Dan Shapera and hundreds of others  ... m o r e ... ,  or click picture next to.

LISA  BAKER

 -  Guitar

-- Whether it's jazz, rock, blues, metal, or anything in between, Ms. Baker is ready to help you take your playing to the next level.
-- Lisa has been teaching private and group lessons for over 20 years.
-- She has a BA in Psychology from Westmont College, is the first female to have graduated Northern Illinois University with a Masters of Music (Jazz Guitar) and a lifetime of experience playing gigs with players like, Bill 'The Buddha' Dickens (Stevie Wonder and The Meters Experience) and Victor Wooten (7 time Grammy winner, Bela Fleck and The Flecktones).

LENKA  NEDVEDOVA

 - Piano

-- Lenka Nedvedova received her Master of Arts Degree in Music and English Literature from the Masaryk University of Brno in the Czech Republic in 1999.
-- She was also a member of the Chamber Choir of Masaryk University with whom she toured Italy, Greece, Poland, Austria and other European countries.
-- She has been teaching for more than 15 years back in her homeland and in the Chicago area.
-- In addition she has accompanied many students and gave numerous performances in one of the oldest churches in the world - Basilica of St. Prokop in Trebic, Czech Republic.

LENKA NEDVEDOWA

MICHAEL  McKISSACK

 -  Guitar/­Bass

-- Mike was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, and has spent the last thirty years learning the intricacies of composing, performing, and teaching the guitar. He’s well versed in most contemporary styles of music, and is always on the lookout for new challenges to his playing. He has studied with a variety of musicians and has gained extensive stage and studio experience performing with a variety of Chicago-based bands.
-- In 1992, he was the winner of the “Chicago’s Finest Guitarist” competition, with sponsors that included Fender, Peavey, and Guitar Player Magazine. He was also featured in the “Spotlight” column in the April 1994 issue of Guitar World Magazine. In 1998, Mike–with his band SBS– won the Kool/H.O.R.D.E. competition hosted by the House of Blues. Boosted by a winning margin of more than 300% above the second place band, SBS played gigs on the HORDEFEST tour with acts such as Blues Traveler, Paula Cole, Government Mule, Bare Naked Ladies, and many others. SBS also released a self-titled CD on Rip Records.
-- Mike currently keeps busy teaching, doing session work, as well as composing and licensing his music for a broad range of advertising and media outlets. -- Mike takes a flexible approach to teaching, balancing his instructions between the academic, technical, and creative aspects of music and the guitar. Although he likes to stay goal-oriented, he tailors his lessons to the goals and ability of each individual. OKSANA  TOMASHEVSKA

 -  Violin

-- Education: Specialized Diploma with Distinction (violin performance and pedagogy), Rivne Music Academy (Ukraine); postgraduate study at Rivne Institute of Culture; solo recitals, quartet, trio and chamber ensembles performances, principal 2nd and 1st violin in chamber and symphony orchestras (Ukraine), 1st violin in Harper Symphony orchestra. Also, Paraprofessional Educator Certificate from Harper college.
-- Teachers: Anatoly Bortnik, professor Gorohov (Ukraine), Sonia Hadar (MIC).
-- Teaching experience: violin instructor at Children’s Music School, State Music Academy (Ukraine), Music Arts School (Highland Park, Il), private studio, Schaumburg Music Academy.
-- Oksana enjoys teaching students of different ages, backgrounds, and levels. She believes that respectful relationships between students and herself are necessary for successful learning. Oksana incorporates different materials (scales, exercises for bowing and technique, studies, et cetera) in building each student’s proficiency in handling the instrument.
-- This proficiency is applied to learning and performing pieces from traditional violinists’ repertoire along with popular songs and pieces of different genres (depending on students’ individual goals, needs, and preferences).

PABLO  LeMOYNE

 -  Guitar

-- Pablo studied guitar performance in Mexico City at Fermatta Music Academy.
-- He studied music composition and Filmscoring at E.S.C.A.M. and has been playing guitar for over 25 years.
-- Pablo has been a guitar teacher for 15 years and specializes in Blues and Rock improvisation and lead guitar techniques.
-- His methods aim to push creativity as much as possible while working at the same time on music reading and performance skills.

SAMUEL  BARSI

 -  Drums/­Trumpet/­Trombone/Euphonium/­Baritone/­Tuba

-- Sam is one of the most ambitious private instructors in the Chicagoland area.
-- Lessons with Sam are the perfect balance of education and fun. This is achieved though Sam's lesson plan system that uses a combination of technical exercises, songs, music theory, and performances. Lesson plans are tailored to the unique needs and goals of each student--this way his students are motivated to practice and feel like rockstars when they meet their goals.

-- Ellie is a piano teacher with more than 15 years experience of musical instruction at children′s musical schools and private piano lessons. She has Bachelors Degree of Art in Piano from Almaty Music College and Kazakh National Pedagogical University in Music and Pedagogy.
-- She moved to Chicago in 2015 from Kazakhstan.
-- Ellie has a wide range of techniques to make the teaching process easier and more fun for the students. She is always trying to choose the right compositions for the students, depending on their levels and interests.
-- Ellie motivates her students by making the journey of learning piano an exciting adventure, and the rest will follow naturally. It′s a philosophy is working for many years with great results.

BOBBY  RECK

 -  Piano/Guitar/Bass/Ukulele

-- Bobby has over 10 years of teaching experience.
-- He received a bachelors degree in music from Northern Illinois University. He can teach all musical styles and students of all skill levels. What makes him a great teacher is that he is just as creative as he is analytical. He likes to make things as simple and fun as possible.
-- Many of his students have moved on to pursue music academically and become performers. Bobby is a professional musician who has performed with multiple bands in the Chicagoland area.
-- He also writes and records his own music. Similar to music, Bobby has a passion for computer programming. He is currently working on bringing his passions together to create educational music application.

JOSEPH  SHIELDS

 -  Guitar

-- Joseph Shields is a multi-instrumentalist with 25 years of experience playing guitar, electric bass, piano, and a variety of other instruments.
-- He received his Bachelor′s Degree in Jazz Performance from Bowling Green State University in 2002. After completing his degree, Joseph moved to Chicago and has played with many groups from jazz ensembles to rock bands and extensively as a solo guitarist.
-- He has performed in a large variety of venues including the main stage of the House of Blues and Fred Anderson′s Velvet Lounge.
-- Joseph′s students receive both a grounding in essential musical skills and also encouragement to explore their own personal creative impulses. All students are given targeted lessons aimed at helping them to have a thorough understanding of their instruments and the technical skills necessary to play the music they love.

BRENT  DEAN

 -  Guitar

-- Brent comes from a family deeply rooted in music. After trying several instruments at a young age, he began studying the acoustic guitar at age 9, and the drums at age 13, and has performed on both instruments in many ensembles over the years.
-- In 1995 he began teaching private and group lessons and has been doing so ever since.
-- Brent enjoys working with students of all ages and tailoring their lessons to their individual abilities and interests.
-- He can provide instruction in several music genres including rock, pop, folk, alternative, blues, classical and jazz.
-- So from The Doors to Dave Matthews Band, or Count Basie to Coldplay, Brent can help students progress towards their musical goals.

JIM  MEYER

 -  Piano

-- Jim has been playing piano for over 20 years and teaching piano for 4 with a certification in piano pedagogy.
-- He graduated last May from Elmhurst College with top honors, majoring in Music Theory/Composition, Psychology, and Philosophy with a specific focus on Music Cognition.
-- He is currently finishing a 3 year psychological study on the positive enhancement of long term music training on attention, memory, and cognition.
-- He is also certified as a yoga teacher, and has been practicing yoga for over 25 years.
-- He teaches piano using a unique and holistic blend of pedagogical skills, neuroscience, yoga, and mindfulness training.
